From Brimfield Town Hall:
Trustee Memo 1/8/05
Hello Brimfield:
Thank you for all the positive response we received for our first newsletter, it was the boards intent to help the township residents understand Brimfield Government and Township a little more. I would personally like to thank all the Cub Scouts, Boy scouts, students, walkers, joggers and ordinary town folks who volunteered their time to help distribute a majority of them by hand, saving the township postage. These folks surely understand the unselfish necessity of working together for the common good of community.

As I stated before, the board will make available this Brimfield Times quarterly through the year, but due to the size of the township we realize we will have to mail more of the newsletters to assure a majority of the township receives a copy.

2005 is going to be a big year. The Trustees have a unified desire to push forward an agenda geared towards providing opportunities for the residents. Our first goal is creating a Park and Rec program under the guidance of a trained individual. This individual will coordinator, create and oversee programs for all ages of residents of the township.

With the upcoming ground breaking of the Community center we want programs that can fill the new hall with residents eager to participate. The board envisions summer programs for our school aged children, secure and exciting, with ample opportunities for physical fitness and enjoyment with their peers, lets not kid our selves we all know mom and dad could sure use a break during the summer!

Our park system is expanding, we need to assure the preservation of our green space, and to further this cause the township will work on maintaining and improving what has been so unselfishly donated and will be donated to the township and position ourselves financially so we are ready to take advantage of future acreage. To start a little buzz out there, the board is looking into the possibility of tennis courts and lighted Baseball diamonds stay tuned!

Talking to Dr Edgar McCormick recently, the acclaimed town historian and author, I was reinforced on my belief that the township new residents need a forum to understand the Brimfield of old. History is so very important, it is our roots, and it is our heritage. Brimfield is rich in history and a simpler time and we must not forget what the past generation toiled for in their love of their township and community.
As I welcome all the new residents to Brimfield take time to visit the Kelso house, and soon the Community center where you can learn some of Brimfield’s rich past. I truly believe knowledge of local history creates a stronger community, and with strong community comes rewards.

In closing, lets all work together to push Brimfield forward sensibly. Enjoy your township, please continue visiting our web site at www.brimfieldohio.com to stay informed and learn as we do.

My father taught me, “KNOWLEDGE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN NEVER BE TAKEN AWAY NOR TAKEN FOR GRANTED!”

Thanks for reading.
